Let’s talk about how to choose your business idea without confusion and stress.
I’ve helped many of my clients build their side-hustles and businesses and today I’m going to teach you how to do it too!
1. Stop obsessing about what worked for other people.
The perfect recipe for disaster is pushing for things that doesn’t feel right within us. The same is true when it comes to choosing a business idea.
Click below to know why:
I’ve seen many people give up on their entrepreneurial dreams just because they pursued something that’s not really their dream, but other people’s dream or worse, agenda.
Business building is more like a spiritual journey – you learn and evolve along with your business. Don’t believe me? Wait til you get started.
So, when you pursue something just because you saw it worked for others even if it doesn’t feel right in your gut, you already have set yourself up to give up later.
Needless to say, what worked for other people will not always work out for you.
2. Start by looking at what you can do every day for the next 6 months.
When selecting a business idea, start looking at what you do, what you’re good at and what other people ask for your help with.
Watch below to know how:
Once you’ve listed everything down, short list it to 5 ideas.
Then once you have the 5, imagine yourself doing this thing every single day for the next 6 months without fail or break.
Whichever is that one thing you can do every single day for the next 6 months – go with that.
Starting a side-hustle or a business would require you to show up for it everyday, whether you’re fully employed or not.
And if you do not have a muscle to show up for it even when you don’t feel like it, it may be an idea you don’t truly resonate to start with.
Your business should be something you love doing, you’re good at doing and people ask you to help them with.
You’re willing to show up for everyday just like you would to a baby that needs care in order to grow.
Now before I move onto the next tip, if you want to know more about countless ways to generate business ideas, then make sure to download my free guide: Online Business Idea Generator.
This generator will remove the stress of trying to figure out what business to build. With this idea generator, you can come up with as many combinations as you want and will give you tons of ideas for a business in different niches.
3. Start with what you can sell right away.
There are two things I’ve observe from people who start their side-hustle and business:
One, there are those who think about how can they make money from it without even thinking if they even want to sell it or buy it for themselves?
And two, there are those who only care about the creative work without even thinking that at one point, they need to sell it by learning how to sell.
You only have a business when you are able to sell to people.
Watch and learn here:
Greatest indicator whether this idea is right for you is by asking yourself the question: Will I buy this too?
4. Stop just thinking about the ‘money’ it will give you.
True, we wanna build business to earn more money and achieve financial freedom.
However, if you truly want to build a sustainable and meaningful business, you really have to stop thinking about money at first.
If you choose an idea based on how much money you think is going to give you, you’ll not only sound salesy, which will scare people away, but you may probably end up dragging yourself doing it.
Instead of thinking about money first, think about strategy, work and serving first.
You’re putting a lot of unnecessary pressure to yourself when you’re already calculating something you haven’t even started yet, worse, this pressure is energy that should have been use for creative and strategic work.
5. Start learning about my Digital Business Lab Blueprint.
This tip is something I only share to my clients, I am gonna introduce the framework to you right now.
In my program, the Digital Business Lab, I share the Business Blueprint I have used for myself and clients whom I have helped built their own.
DEFINE > EXPERIMENT > MAGNETISE > SERVE
Define is the stage where I help my clients get a clear understanding of what they want and also help them map out what their business strategy is going to look like in their first year.
Experiment is the stage when we start creating their first business offer, learn about the different ways to package and price their offerings while mastering any blocks that come up for them in the process.
Magnetise stage is when I teach their to build their audience online and offline and more.
Serve is the stage where I train them to master sales, launch their offers and convert their audience and more.
As you can see, this is just a quick overview of how can your business building journey look like, but as your coach, I help you cut through the bull and build your ideas to life.
6. Stop overthinking about the opinion of other people.
If you’ve done every thing mentioned above and still unable to choose, this tip may be the culprit for your hesitation.
You’re worried about what will your parents and friends say. You’re worried your officemates will see and judge you.
Let me tell you, their opinion, no matter how caring they think it is, does not help you build your future.
You’re the only one who sees your vision. You’re the one given the calling and the dream – why do you expect them to understand that? It’s not their dream.
An idea is useless until it’s executed. It’s pretty but it’s not useful for you or the universe.
Explore the fear behind your non-action, non-selection.
Do you fear there is now work to do? Do you fear you would fail?
One thing that really helps me decide quickly is envisioning myself on my death bed.
If say tomorrow I die and I have tried going for this thing, will I regret not doing it?
If yes, then hold hands with your fears and take the lead!
