Did you ever wonder why life couldn’t just show you the right option to choose instead of handing you over a lot of choices?
It could be that you’re attracting a lot of them because you’re sending a lot of mixed signals to the universe 💫 by being scattered with what you want.
Having a lot of options as a multi-passionate person can create a lot of confusion which then leads to procrastination.
In this blog, I’ll share five simple ways of attracting the right opportunities that will help you sift through the thousands of possibilities.
1. Be a yes person 💯
This might be counterintuitive to what I have just said in sending mixed signals to the universe, but think about this – how many of your interests have you really went ALL IN for instead of dibble dabbling?
The problem with dibble dabble is – you try a lot of different things without necessarily testing if it works and assessing the results.
It’s okay to be multi-passionate, but if your intention is to find that one thing you want to succeed in, you have to be willing to commit to a full experiment in one of your interests to see what sticks.
One of the ways to do that successfully is by being a yes person.
When an opportunity presents itself to you to take your interest to a higher level, say by appearing on a podcast, or starting a side-hustle related with your interest, you must learn how to be a yes person.
Learn to say yes even when…
… ✔️you don’t feel completely ready for it.
… ✔️you don’t feel qualified for it.
… ✔️it’s out of your scope or may come off as random to your friends.
… ✔️you feel like an impostor.
It’s not enough to just talk about it without even trying to experiment and see the results of going all in.
You wouldn’t believe the number of experiments I’ve tried before coming up with a singular idea of what to commit to.
I know that I was only able to hone in on one because I did not hesitate to be seen in each of the ideas that came up.
Below is the history of my experiments (full disclosure):
- Train with Dane – A fitness account (Can you believe it TWD started as fitness account?😅)
- Hopes & Dreams – a retail business
- Pause Clarity – a mental health product
- Eunoia Digital – a digital marketing agency
- Train with Dane (2.0) – a coaching business (this pushed through, what I have now)
- The Conversion Engine – a tech business (this one pushed through as well and operational + registered in Canada)
- PixelZen – education business (coming soon)
My experience in ideating and building these included a lot of invitations from many others that may or may have distracted me from what I am doing or supposed to be doing.
But without being a YES person, I will not be able to meet a lot of amazing people with whom I have co-created with.
I will not be able to know which one is for me and which ones aren’t.
Had I been someone who say lots of BS excuses, I know for a fact I wouldn’t have built a single one. 🔨
Had I been someone who let impostor syndrome get in the way, you won’t even be receiving this email today. 🙏
So yes, BE A YES PERSON.
Worry later. You don’t need to see the full picture – just jump right in!
Trust yourself, yah?✨
2. Curate your circle⭕
Curating your circle does not mean you’ll have to keep burning bridges soon as shit hits the fan🙅♀️.
It’s about learning to connect with the right people.
In the first point, we addressed your potential insecurities within.
In this second point, we will address your insecurities externally.
Because what is building a side-hustle or a business🏫 other than a school of overcoming your fears, right?
When you’re building your future, you these two types of people.
👉🏻 On one hand, you meet your existing people in a different light, too – you get to see who supports you or not. You also get to meet a different version of you.
👉🏻 On the other hand, you meet new people who are either going to be a distraction or a blessing.
You have to exercise your intuition muscle✨ to know where people belong in your life – each one you meet can be sorted into different buckets🪣 of your life.
It is not necessary that the people who support you during Happy Hour should be the same people who will support you in building your future – and that is ok. 💯
The same is true the other way around – the people helping you build a future are not necessarily going to be the same people who are always going to be by your side with whom you can share whatever.
The earlier you learn and accept this, the easier it will be for you to navigate ⛵ through relationships.
Curate your circle. Fire, hire and promote people in your life accordingly – do it in a graceful, conscious way. 🙏🏻
3. Always do your homework📝
If you survived school half-a$$ing your homework, in life (especially in business), you simply can’t expect to succeed without doing extra research work.💯
For example, if you want to start a side-hustle, it’s imperative that you research and prepare a marketin + business plan. (I did for each one of them if you’re wondering)
Really take time to learn the ins and outs of what you are trying to build. 🤓
By doing this, you not only learn if this is the right thing to do, but it also helps you get the confidence you need in whatever you are going to build.
One more important thing, remember the days when in school you could ask somebody else to do your homework?
When you’re starting a side-hustle or business, you can do that too (although not everything, of course.)
This is where the coaches come in.
You can shorten the learning curve by learning from somebody and getting inspired with their framework 🗺️ to make something of your own.
👉🏻 Success always leaves clues so be sure to collect them. ✨
4. Show up – scared or unsure. 🙃
There are far too many unrecognized talents in the world. One of the reasons – because not everybody shows up.
Do you really think it’s only Mark Zuckerberg who thought of Facebook? Or Elon for PayPal? 🤔
What a joke. Of course not. 💁🏻♀️
Of the billions of people on the planet, there are for sure A LOT of people who, at one point, got these ideas, but ignored them as a random thought, or got too scared to show up.
Of course, money can also be an issue on the side, but if you truly GO ALL IN into something – not time or money – can completely stop you. 💯
That is why – when you decide to embark on this journey of starting something for yourself, you have to be ready to REALLY SHOW UP.
Do you honestly expect others to acknowledge your talents and shine by hiding beneath the shadows? No – let’s be real.
I am pretty sure that even those who already have famous names attached to theirs, have to do so ‘bravery work’ by saying yes to opportunities👍, showing up even when they’re scared👀, and connecting with people.🤝
In my personal experience, the opportunities I’ve created for myself today are the results of me showing up even when I don’t feel like it, even when I feel scared, even when I feel shy.
Just show up and see✨.
Nobody will bite you. And if they do then bite back lol.
5. Make space in your life🧘♀️
Maybe none of the points above stop you from attracting the right opportunities, but maybe this one is.
👉🏻 You can’t attract the right opportunities because you are always full.🤔
You distract yourself with many little things to keep up an impression that you’re there.
The unpleasant thing about always being busy is, it’s hard to know if what you’re doing is still the relevant thing.
- Is it the needle-mover?
- Is it aligned with your overall vision?
- Does it make you at peace and happy?
- Do you still get new ideas that inspire you to create new solutions?
If all your answer is a NO, then it’s time for some spring cleaning🧹!
Get your priorities straight and make some space for yourself and for NOTHING.
There is a study that shows that without boredom, there is no creativity.
So be bored a little. Daydream a little more than usual. 💭
It not only feels good, but also productive if you really think about it.
Let me know in the comments below which point you are going to start doing this week.
Catch you in the next read!
Ad astra,
Dane✨
